NEWS
DON'T FORGET TO READ THE RULEBOOK!
7.14.16 // Congratulations to Rabbitclaw for his promotion to ShadowClan deputy! Also, don't forget to post in the Activity Check!
6.15.16 // A bunch of lovely cosmetic updates to the site have been made (just look at those snazzy side-tables) and the WC has been lowered, for practical reasons, to 150. We also would love to welcome Stormhawk (void) as WindClan's new deputy!
6.7.16 // Rise Up's first gathering is underway! Don't miss the fun! You can find and start your own threads in the gathering board, found right in four trees! Be sure to read through the leader announcements!
5.25.16 // A big ol' CONGRATS to Cuckoopoppy, ShadowClan's medicine cat! He's a scruffy old fellow who sees a few more omens then normal (and perhaps a few curses) but I'm sure we'll all love him and his antics! Reminder that the SC and WC deputy positions are still available for audition!
5.15.16 // The May activity check has come to a close! A big thank you to everyone who participated! Unfortunately, the ShadowClan medicine cat rank is now open as well. The deadline for this rank, and the others available, is indefinite- so if you want it, go for it!
5.7.16 // Our first activity check is underway, and a new announcement has been posted! The new season is leaffall, and everyone should remember to age any characters made prior to 5/1/16 up two moons! Remember that two deputy positions and the guard position are still ripe for the taking.
5.7.16 // Did you know 99 Love Baloons is actually a song about the apopcalypse? Who knew!

fire in the hole Battle had only been in this forsaken forest a pawful of times. Once as a youngling, when she'd been dared to explore the trees- another time when she'd helped to chase out the forest cats, and a third time when she'd checked on their cats who'd stayed there in the forest to observe and make sure nobody took it back.
Today had been the fourth time she'd parted from her Ruler's side to venture into the trees, making her way to the island that marked the base of their second capture. She'd been sent by Mangle to check up on the cats here, just as she had earlier.
So imagine Battle's surprise and anger when she learned that the Clan cats still had the gall to mark on the ALLIANCE's side of the river. She'd set out right away to check out this... this, this unforgivable act.
So here she stood, perched on one of the railings of the twoleg bridge, the setting sun casting a dieing light over the land, painting the sky pink with it's last fading breaths. Massive green eyes peer out over the stretch of thunderpath, held by rock tree-tunks over the river. On the other side was a stretch of moor, but the scent alone could tell you this was their border with 'WindClan'.
It stunk of their markers, and more recently, Battle's own fresh markers as she staked her claim to this land, a clear insult as she made a point of covering theirs and even leaving the remains of a meal here for them to find.
And since then she'd been waiting alone, partially hoping to catch a patrol, or at least just one exploring cat. She'd give 'em some marks to take home, Battle thought- or at least shout at them some. Give 'em something to fear, or something like that.
Alone she was, yes, but not any less confident. In fact, being alone had been her choice. There were plenty of young cats eager to accompany her out into the forest, but she'd refused each and every one. You never knew who'd pull some dirty trick, using the forest against her to snatch her rank. No, no no, she couldn't let that happen.
Cracking her jaws in a wide yawn, the tall she-cat pushed herself to her paws, stretching onto her tippy toes as she swept her gaze over the moorland once more.

{ take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads Unease overtook the slender pale figure as her delicate body wove between the dancing stalks of golden grass. Pointed ears flew along their perch in constant searching of whoever, or whatever, could be just beyond sight. She kept her lips parted to increase her scenting. Nothing was going to sneak up on the pair, not a single cat would be allowed to touch a hair on her new apprentice. Before breaching the protective stalks Clovertail pulled her young apprentice over with her long white tail. In a low and serious voice she attempted to convey the situation. "Listen, darling, it is imperative that you follow my every step. Once we cross the bridge onto the opposite side of the river the land may still be claimed by WindClan, but it was not always so. This makes it dangerous. Do you understand?"She would wait a moment to see how the young cat reacted. They might be too childish to understand yet, or even just too exhausted after already having made their way this far into the territory. After all, this was his first tour of WindClan. Even energetic kittens would tire out soon enough! "We're not going to cross the bridge, but I do want to show you it a bit closer. And remember, we must keep a lookout for The Alliance as well." They didn't know the patrolling habits of the new group yet, and were clueless to how they structure themselves. All they knew is that the force was deadly efficient and would spare no queen or kit. Lightningpaw needed to get a hold of their scent but only if it was absolutely loner free. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Tired? Lightningpaw? Not even close! A wave of rolling stalks whisked through the tall grass as something small, something fast, and something with a wayward sense of direction came bolting behind the white-furred molly. It circled once, twice, in a blind dash. Then in a skittering sea of dirt and seeds the apprentice came to a rolling halt –face in the ground and rump to the stars. For a long, indecisive moment there was no more movement, no sign of life. Then the kitten pulled up his dirt-streaked face and beamed. “Did’ya see that Clovertail? Huh? Huh? I was like WOOSH and then VrRrRRrr and then WOA!” Lightningpaw leapt to his paws before plopping his butt down to sit. This was to allow front paws the freedom of gesturing wildly, all the better to make his point. Meanwhile big, kitten-blue eyes implored her to take glee in his /obvious/ success. Success of what? Well, that wasn’t all too clear, but he felt as if he’d done something cool. He would have prodded her further, but her tail snaked out to gesture him closer. The student was quick to appease. Lightningpaw scooted his tail-end until the distance between them was uncomfortably close. Then he cocked his head and attempted to listen to whatever oh-so important lecture she had to give. Attempting being the key word. For, in the middle of her explanation his eyes found a spider skittering along one of the grass stalks. Talk about cool! It moved like a squirrel, but floated like a leaf. He wanted to climb just like it! Maybe Clovertail would teach him. They could go visit ShadowClan, they had lots of trees to learn on! Berrystar wouldn’t mind, right? Or whatever her name was. It was something “Bee.” Trying to sort this out, Lightningpaw began to mumble “Buh-Berry. Buh-Bear.Buh-Burr,” beneath his breath, clearly not paying attention. Clovertail’s mew seemed to come to close soon after, however, and the sudden silence had him frowning in dismay. Then, realizing the source a bit too late, the apprentice sent his mentor a too-innocent smile. "Right! Whatever you say Clovertail! You’re Awesome!” That would make her happy, right? Besides, it was true enough![ WORDS 365 | MUSE stamp on the ground by italobrothers ]

fire in the hole During that final sweep of the land beyond the bridge, green eyes settled on two shapes. They were distant, having just stepped into view. Her legs stiffened and the steady pulse in her ears kicked up into a dancing rhythm. She had to swallow and exhale, pushing the sudden rush away. She had to wait and see if there were more- she could easily take two of them, but if there were four or five Battle couldn't risk that fight.
She turned to hop down from the railing, outstretched paws reaching the rough stone below, landing with a heavy grunt. Battle muttered a curse under her breath before she trotted forward. As she neared the edge of the bridge the long-legged molly slipped into a crouch. Widened pupils scanned the area in front of her, making sure she still had time before she slipped to the side, settling just under the bridge where the ground started to dip down towards the river. Hopefully the tall grass here would help hide her from their eyes- but her scent had been worked into this ground over the last few minutes. She'd made no effort to hide it.
Her intense gaze followed the pair as they neared. Mother and son, she'd assume- and he was but a kitten. Battle couldn't help the shiver of disgust that rippled up her spine. A cat that young should still be at the nest, not out here prancing around where just anything could pick it off. Once more she was reminded of how incompetent and stupid the clan cats were. She didn't see any others with them, she could kill that kitten in a second if she wanted to, and that'd leave her one on one with his mother.
She wasn't even sure if she was going to kill either one. She hadn't intended to, but now one was clearly so vulnerable. Her stomach twisted. Battle had done messed up things, but killing a kitten wasn't on the list yet. She wasn't sure if the even could.
She could hear them now, her ears perked up. Definitely a mother. What kind of idiot dragged their kid out like this? Her fur stood up on her spine as she stepped out from her hiding spot, stretching onto her toes again. Now she was confident it was just her and them, and they clearly weren't a thread.
"Hey bile bags! Rottin' beat it! Ours now, git'!"

{ take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads A delicate frown would not decorate her white cheeks as the apprentice clearly failed to listen to her warning. Clovertail was an experienced mother so she was used to the short attention spans of kits. More so, it was difficult to be vexed with such an adorable specimen. He bumbled around like a little bee, getting close enough to make any other cat uncomfortable. She just found it adorable. Still, she felt extremely uneasy by the contested border. Sitting around with their backs to the unknown didn't feel safe. With grace and poise the aging molly stood swiftly to her tiny paws and shook whatever dirt from her pelt. Her tail wove around so that it could lightly pat Lightningpaw on the head. "I'm pleased you think I'm awesome, but you do need to learn to listen my little light. I have important lessons to teach you. They could save your life."She made certain to give him a long, stern look, green eyes boring into the kitten with concern reading easily in their depths. "Now follow me. We'll go right up to the bridge, but no more! Do not cross it, or touch it. Stay by my side no matter what. This is important." Again she set him with that same stern look. Hopefully he would listen this time. Clovertail then licked his ears affectionately to assure him he wasn't in trouble, but as she did so a voice rose from the bridge. She froze in fear, concern for her apprentice at the forefront of her mind. The unknown voice, from this side of the territory, had to be from them. She couldn't flee, though. She was far too prideful, and she had to show these trespassers that WindClan would not be pushed around as the others had. "You are on WindClan territory, protected by Applestar and his warriors. Leave now. You will only be afforded one warning." MADE BY VEL OF GS

As shadow fell over his slight form Lightningpaw lifted his gaze to watch the tall molly stir. A slight pat between his ears made pale fur burn with adoration. He was still young enough to enjoy being treated like a child, for now, so he offered her a joyful grin in return. However, butt remained firmly planted on soil instead of following her lead. Good thing too, for another lecture was quick to follow. He truly did try to pay attention this time, he really did. Only, just off her right shoulder the spider could still be seen spinning its web on the grass beyond. The way it moved was just too cool. Spindly legs whirled together to leave behind a thin trail of string. How did it even work? Could he do that if he tried? He couldn’t remember a cat ever doing something like it before, but maybe they just hadn’t tried yet. Oh, oops! An angry pair of green eyes were suddenly focused intensely upon him. A bashful smile burst out in response, knowing full and well that he’d been caught red-pawed. The grin became wider and wider as she continued to glare, gaining in cheese factor by the heartbeat. Finally she spoke, and as she did Lightningpaw wiggled so as to place the spider out of eyeshot. He would pay attention this time!Which, it turned out, proved to be a lot easier to do. See, she was now talking about something fun! He wanted to see a bridge, whatever it was. Even if it meant no-touching he was sure it would be exciting all the same. Besides, maybe he could still sneak a touch? It wasn’t like the warrior code said “no touching.” Pffft. Before her second glare could register he had flung to his feet. Her ear-lick was expertly dodged as the weedy little apprentice squirmed away before darting around her in a wide circle. Once the arc was done he veered off towards where the two had been previously heading, towards The Alliance cat. Her deep, gravely mew drew him up short. Pebbles skittered from his feet as he slid from the grass and into more open ground. She was huge! Taller than a tree! Bigger than a bear! Or, so his mind would later recite to a captivated audience back home. Clovertail was talking again, but he wasn’t as interested in her formal words. No, it was the weird things the other had said that had a transfixed stare overtaking his colorpoint face. Not minding any of the warnings his mentor had attempted to pound into his wayward brain, Lightningpaw bounced closer to the looming molly. With his face still coated in dust and dirt from before he shoved his nose towards her. “What’s a bile bag? Why would you beat it? Does it have food or something in it? Is that why?”[ WORDS 481 | MUSE stamp on the ground by italobrothers ]

fire in the hole She waited patiently, eyes following the pair cautiously, a smug smirk on her features and ears angled back. If they were smart, they'd back down- but everyone knew clan cats weren't smart. The big one, 'Clovertail', confirmed this as she warned. Something about the protection of some Applestar and his 'warriors'.... lesser-cats, more like.
"Make me." She spat back, a childish whine trailing off the challenge as she stuck out her tongue, lips curling up to bare her teeth. This display, however, turned to a look of disgust as the tiny, twig-like infant bounded up to her. Wow, what an idiot- didn't their kittens know nothing?
Deadpan green eyes fixed on him, expression fading to nothing but a cold glare as she watched him. She imagined some Crow's kitten bouncing up to Mangle like that- what would happen. It was a pathetic. With a glance up at Clovertail she eased into a crouch, lowering to eye-level with the kitten. Her gaze then flicked to him. "Well Kitten- you're a bile bag. You smell and I'd beat you because your mother says stupid things." She explained. Despite the cold, distant expression she wore, her tone dripped with sickly sweetness.
Battle straightened up, glaring at Clovertail through slitted eyes before she suddenly lashed out, aiming to cuff the skinny apprentice over the head. She put a good amount of force into it, fully intending to send him rolling.

{ take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads Clovertail's delicate lips curved in a look of disgusted displeasure as the mange-ridden cat acted like a spoiled child. But the look wouldn't last long. Lightningpaw had run right up to the loner, making the she-cat's heart leap into her throat. No! She wanted to scream, but was fearful that if she did Lightningpaw would turn his back to the stranger in order to look her way. If he was going to stand a chance, now, he needed his attention to stay trained on the newcomer. Or so she thought. A low, threatening hiss curled like venom in the air. The cat looked at if she was going to hurt her apprentice, or try something otherwise evil and corrupt. Who would ever hurt a kitten? Surely even a loner would have the sense not to? She watched, unable to move as fear rooted her to the spot. "Run Lightningpaw! Run!" She began to scream, suddenly not caring what the other cat thought. The threats washed over her like water, all that mattered is that he get away safely. "RUN!"A single paw raised to strike him and Clovertail shot forward, feet soaring over the grass as she covered the distance as quickly as she could. Her heart hammered in her chest, singing a song of hope that would surely go ignored. She sent a silent prayer to the stars to protect the kitten. Help him!MADE BY VEL OF GS

Knees bent, slowly, and were replaced with a cold set of green eyes. They’re attention shifted to him and he could feel it, feel the force of her gaze as it landed true. Before she could speak another mew cut in, pleading for him to run. But the reasoning was lost on the child. Run? This cat had leaned down to speak with him, not fight. Words couldn’t hurt! Not really, at least. Silly Clovertail.
And then she spoke. Her mew was honey pouring over sugar. Nothing could be sweeter, nothing could be more misleading. Although she spoke simply, and without the heavy dialect, he still had difficulty piecing the meaning together. She sounded nice, but she was calling his mom stupid. How’d she even know who his mom was? And the loner said he smelled, but smelled like what? She didn’t smell all too good herself, so he couldn’t really blame her for getting his scent messed up. And he had run into a beetle during their tour. Talk about smelly! Maybe she scented that? But then bile bag, the way she said it just didn’t sit right, and she’d said something about beating him. Well that didn- During this inner dialog Clovertail had yelled another warning. It had, of course, fallen on deaf ears. Perhaps not deaf entirely, but the way he had cocked his head, eyes wide with curiosity, indicated that he was not paying attention in the least. What a puzzle the loner had given! He couldn’t respond until it had been solved. And that was when his thoughts were interrupted by a sudden and unexpected movement. He had only just registered it when a sensation of force struck him. It hurt, but the initial sting was hardly noticed as he rolled away due to the blow, down the slight slope and back towards the long grass. Rocks and burrs were lodged into his thin pelt, a spattering of grass and dust covered what had been white. And as he came to a stop a stinging ache really began to make itself known. “Owe! Owe! Owe! My head!” A small paw rubbed at the point of impact, flattening his ears in the process. Once he had some small grip on the idea of the new pain the apprentice flung open blue eyes to cast a hurt, and confused look back up the way he’d come. “Why’d you go and do that? It wasn’t very nice.” He implored her to answer, as if “not being nice” was the greatest crime a cat could commit and she better come up with a good excuse or risk something. Something what? Well, he didn’t really know, but bad things happened to bad cats, right? [ WORDS 454 | MUSE stamp on the ground by italobrothers ]

fire in the hole She huffed with amusement as the queen started to yowl. She wasn't going to kill the little twerp, /sheesh/, calm down- and then she swatted out, eyes never leaving the queen, and Clovertail charged forward.
Her blood was pumping, heart racing, every muscle ready to propel herself forward, ready to /destroy/ the shecat. Leave a message- not a body, a message- for the clan to find. A mark, a scar, something to remember her by. The world began to blurr at the edges as her eyes focused on the streaking shape of white steamrolling her way, when-
"Owe! Owe! Owe! My head!"
The kitten's cries stopped her cold. Her heart stopped, blood froze, she found herself rooted in place. Fur puffing out Battle straightened up, defensive crouch gone, posture totally vulnerable to the charging queen. The danger she'd put herself was forgotten, and it seemed that her own /responsibility/ in the kitten's harm was forgotten as well. Her stomach was twisting, bile rising in her throat as wide eyes turned away from Clover, instead frantically searching the riverbank.
“Why’d you go and do that? It wasn’t very nice.”
He looked so /hurt/, and Battle didn't know what to do. Deep down, her voice of reason and intelligence argued this was a fight. The cold part of her, the callousness, told her to go after the kitten or the queen, whichever she felt would give her the greatest advantage- but no longer was the she-cat thinking. Not really. She acted purely on impulse and instinct and the painful feeling swelling in her chest as she uttered out a pathetically mewled "Are you okay??"
- Assuming, of course, that by now Clovertail hadn't run her into the ground.

{ take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads Clovertail's small paws were not fast enough in that tragic moment. She watched with helplessness as the tormenting loner hammered her ugly paw on Lightningpaw's delicate kitten head. Down, down, down he rolled. For countless heartbeats the snow-pelted she-cat thought he was surely dead. She'd seen similar blows upon warriors, she'd even felt them herself. She knew how much damage it could do and he was just six moons! Barely old enough to be out here. Heart pounding like jungle drums the faint-footed molly practically flew to his side. She hadn't struck the loner as she had at first meant to. Her feet had only hit the ground once more before they expertly turned with utter grace towards the downed lynx-point tom instead. Once at his side she took careful note of his messy fur but while there may have been little pricks of red nothing looked serious. Even the experienced Clovertail didn't know the secrets of the medicine cat, so she still wanted to hurry him to help. "Where does it hurt? Are you okay? Can you walk?" Although the questions were fired off with speed her voice was as gentle as a summer breeze. The grandmother knew how to calm little ones, and was quick to wrap her tail around his flanks comfortingly while offering a gentle lick to his cheek. It was only then that she remembered the loner. "It's none of your business, monster! Why would you suddenly care, anyways? Or is this part of your tricks?" Emerald eyes narrowed on the offender, sharp enough to kill. MADE BY VEL OF GS

A rough tongue ran along his dirt-streaked head, causing Lightningpaw to laugh cutely as the affection carried him temporarily away from the shock and pain. He then batted small paws playfully at Clovertail’s comforting tail. It was a delightful distraction that the kitten fell for easily. But the movement jarred his head injury, as slight as it was, and a throbbing sensation had him feeling unsteady and groggy. He was lost then, forced to blink and breathe in an effort to keep from falling. It would have soiled his mood had it not been for the unexpected pathetic mew of concern. Ears flashed forward as his eyes drew wide. It was the loner who was concerned, his attacker of all cats whose voice held obvious feeling. Before Lightningpaw could react Clovertail had taken the offensive, and her aggression had his ears pulling tightly downward. The things she called the stranger! It couldn’t be fair, could it? Worried, with the insight of a kitten, that the stranger would cry he piped up as soon as his mentor has stopped talking. “Don’t worry! I’ll be all better soon, spe-cialy if you gave my owe a lick. Mom says it’s the cure for everything!” The young cat mewed in a chipper tone. Turning to Clovertail, now, he attempted to placate her own anger. “It’s okay, see? It was an accident! She didn’t mean to hit me.” Obviously that wasn’t the case, even Lightningpaw knew as much. He even threw a conspiring look at the loner, giving away his own lack of utter innocence. “See Clovertail? See?”

fire in the hole While Battle had been deflated, fur laying flat and the stiffness melting from her body- it quickly came back in force when Clovertail's hostile gaze fixed on her again. Her legs went stiff and her pelt bristled, ears angling out. Her long tail even twitched defensively along her flank, but she didn't quite interrupt the kit.
Her stomach was still twisting and Battle could feel bile rising in her throat, but she tried her best to swallow it down. She couldn't hack up a hairball now, not in front of a rotten clan cat! Still, she made a couple soft huffing noises until she managed to settle the sick feeling she had boiling in her gut.
"See?" She quickly mewed after Lightningpaw had finished, her head giving a small tilt towards WindClan territory and a blink as she caught the little glance cast her way. "He's fine, Clovertail." She drew in a deep breath and exhaled in a huff. "Why don't you two go home before one of you ends up hurt, huh? It's not safe this close to the territories."
It would be nearly impossible to tell if that was a threat or genuine concern for little Lightningpaw. Battle herself knew the concern was there, lingering, and a threat would be the best way to protect the land she'd claimed and keep these two away. Prey on the older she-cat's clear love for her kitten. Speaking of that- what a weird kit called his mother by name, and not 'mom', 'mama', or something like that? Unless all clan cats called their mothers Clovertail? Her whiskers gave a twitch and big eyes narrowed in thought. How strange.

{ take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads Clovertail’s long lashes fluttered with concern for her cute apprentice. She leaned over to lick his head between his cute ears. “Here’s a kiss for your little boo-boo. It’ll be all better soon. Granny Clover and Meddy Tawny will make sure of that!” She said. The senior warrior was trying to be comforting so that Lightningpaw wouldn’t cry again. She had the aura of a mothering figure so it probably worked. The white aged molly wasn’t easily fooled. She knew that her apprentice was trying to make her forgive the loner and keep from fighting. Clovertail was worried enough about his head and kind enough to let him think he won, but she’d make sure the loner didn’t take advantage of it. “Come on Lightningpaw let’s go see Tawnyberry. Your mom will start to worry if we don’t get you back anyways. I promised her I’d keep you safe.” She mewed and stood up trying to push him gently along with her flushed pink nose. But before she left she paused and looked at the loner. “If you don’t want any trouble you better get off our territory while we’re gone. I’ll be sending a large patrol to come check, just in case. You aren’t welcome in Windclan and you never will be.” Hopefully the loner got the message. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Well, it wasn’t exactly the outcome Lightningpaw wanted, but at least he’d gotten a kiss on his boo-boo and the two she-cats weren’t fighting. Both points were definitely something to celebrate. Clovertail’s mew was comforting to the childish apprentice as well. And he had to admit, he was starting to miss his mother already (he was only six moons after all). So, without any protest, he got to all fours and allowed his mentor to push him back towards camp. Lightinpaw’s little white tail raised in the air as he considered the story he’d get to tell everyone later! Lionpaw would be jealous and his family would be so proud! Maybe Applestar would even give him a treat for being a war-hero! His little, skipping steps halted just for a moment when Clovertail stopped as well. Her threat had his ears falling back atop his head, but he didn’t have it in him to argue with the authority figure. Instead Lightningpaw waited, patiently, until she was. Then, before Clovertail could stop him, he bolted on up to the brown she-cat, with a warm smile on his maw. Although, he did keep a noticeable distance from her this time. Apparently he had learned his lesson after all. “I’m Lightningpaw, by the way! Mom says it’s rude not to introduce yourself to new cats. I’m sorry I was rood earlier, and if I scared you. I won’t do it next-time, okay? So let’s meet again!” He’d wait only a heartbeat to see if she had anything to say, or if she’d offer her own name, before he turned tail and bolted up the grassy slope ahead of Clovertail. “I’ll beat you back to camp! Come on Clovertail, race me!” And with that he was gone from view. Spoken / thoughts
