she picked this name for the ambiguity of the multitude of meanings, most of which are threatening and go along with The Alliance's naming customs.

Ruin's pelt is that of a classic calico. The base is white with black and ginger patches haphazardly placed along the back, tail, and head. Her orange patches are crossed with mackerel striping. A single spot of ginger acts as a beauty mark on her muzzle.

She's fairly average in height with a thin, wiry build. It's clear that her life was spent in the protection of the previous pet. She has the soft build of a cat who's been spoiled in life, yet it lacks the plumpness of a kittypet. She appears delicate, but refined, with a touch of potential for more. Don't be fooled, this cat knows how to fight, and has the skill to take down unwary opponents.

“I don't understand what you're trying to accomplish. Just leave me alone.”
Everything has to be justified, especially for those who follow Mangle. No action of kindness is free. Having lived only in the protected confines of the group's higher ranks, Ruin fully believes that everything must also follow this rule. Any action that goes against it simply doesn't make sense to her. Any other way of being is not part of her reality.
“Stay here. You'll only get in the way.”
Although she means well, Ruin is actually quite bossy. She's used to getting her way, and to being respected for her special rank. It isn't that she actively sees others as lesser, but more so that this is her mode of operation. She knows that if she does the job it'll be done right, so why risk letting someone else try?
“I'm not doing this for you, I'm doing it because now you owe me.”
Ruin desperately tries to fit in to the harsh and unforgiving environment, despite her tender heart yearning to help everyone. She's solved this clash of mind versus heart by convincing others, and herself, that she acts only to benefit a higher goal. Despite the good intentions, this still makes her liable to be dishonest in other ways as well.
“Why? I don't know you.”
Partly because of her rank, and partly because of her own disposition, Ruin has distanced herself emotionally. It's nearly impossible to get to really know her as she actively seems to avoid making friends. That said, this creates intense loneliness that will not be dissipated until she learns to come out of her shell.
“No, I'll go alone.”
Despite her frail appearance Ruin is head-strong and brave. She'd rather take personal risks than endanger anyone else. She does have some training in the art of a warrior, and plenty of experience fending off aggressive cats, so she's not utterly foolish in her bravery.
“W-What are you doing?”
She's worked so hard to develop her refined shell that it's actually fairly easy to break. You see, she's so set in her ways that a single unexpected statement can leave her blubbering like a fool.
“It's okay, please don't cry, what if I rub your back?”
At the end of the day Ruin is brimming with compassion for everyone. She adores kits, although she's too skittish to approach them, and feels a great deal of sorrow over the lives of the crows and lesser-cats. Although her loyalty to the code and status-quo keeps her from changing anything, she still does her best within the system to help everyone.

AHISTORY
~ Crush gives birth to two surviving kittens, Giggle and her sister. Mangle, their father, distances himself from the family inexplicably. He only visits the girls twice, and they're too young to have any sense of it.
~ Ruins prepares for the day she'll come of age by training, learning how to fight, and eating well. Her kithood kindness and innocence are forcefully muted by lessons upon lessons of how to survive through tact and manipulation.
~ Ruin and Maim come of age and choose their names. Ruin is viciously attacked. She manages to defeat her first foe by using her wit and speed to outmaneuver him and, in the process, blinds his right eye. He's forced to flee the fight. However, her second attacker takes advantage of her worn-out state and, although she puts up a good fight, defeats her. She's demoted to Lesser-cat. Immediately she's attacked again by a crow rank. She's entirely exhausted, but the crow is weak and grossly malnourished. The two fight for some time before she defeats them. Another crow challenges her, and unable to refuse, she's easily defeated.
~ Ruin lives as a crow for a few, short moons. She barely gets by by fighting for every scrap and morsel. However her time as a crow is short-lived. Taint, the current pet, decides to pick her as their successor. They know her heritage as Mangle's daughter, and suspect that being in her good graces could, someday, put them in his.
~ The current ruler orders a strike against ThunderClan. While the attacking cats are away Mangle defeats the ruler in a fight and steals his rank.
~ RiverClan challenges Mangle, and he immediately sends cats to wipe them out.
~ Taint trains Ruin in both mind and body, instilling in her the important of playing her part. She learns what little healing knowledge that Taint has gained, and begins to treat the lower ranking cats -seeing their health as her first priority.
~ Taint is captured by Twolegs and never seen from again. Ruin mourns the loss of her teacher, despite the elder's grumpy and sometimes irrational disposition.
