[nospaces]
In the cover of darkness a large, hulking mass shoved aside the sweeping ferns along the path to camp. It was a terrible commotion as the stalks rattled together, resisting the passerby. Some might have even feared whatever terrible beast was trudging alone so. Might have, had they not heard the delighted mews coming from the old Applestar. Had cats the gift for song he most certainly would have even been singing.
[break][break]“Right, now Lionpaw, run along with our catch. Be quick little’n.” A gentle shove of his nose would hope to send his apprentice towards the fresh kill pile. They were just getting back from a long day of small team hunting practice, and together they’d manage to catch at least one thing. He couldn’t have been happier for her success, no matter how the day had actually gone down.
[break][break]He also couldn’t have been later. Above their heads the moon was climbing higher and higher. Soon the two clans, and whatever remained of the others, would be gathering for a truce. WindClan needed to get a move on.
[break][break]As Applestar drew into the clearing himself he felt the buzz of anxious cats. A chagrin covered his maw, but he quickly wiped away and opted for a proud look. Then, with a wave of his massive tail, the tabby leader gained the attention of the already gathered cats. Then, in a large and cracking mew he spoke. “Tonight, as you all know, is the gatherin’. Now, I’d be wrong if I said it’ll be a sure thing, that it’s safe for our young apprentices and elders. Just can’t know that. So I’ll be leavin’ a fair bit of you home. You must’n sleep. Stay vigilant, stay wary. Keep each other safe. –insert dep’s name- will stay here ta’ make sure of that.”
[break][break]A loving look was tossed along his growing family and extended to the clan at large before the old cat continued. “Tonight I’ll be bringin’:
[break][break](Ya’ll can bring whatever character you want, even npcs. We’ll just pretend Apple listed them )
[break][break]and Clovertail, ta’ keep my head on straight.” When he finished the long list Applestar gave a generous chuckle, which grew in volume as others joined in. They all knew that Clovertail was an essential cat to have by the silly leader’s side.
[break][break]Eventually the murmurs and chuckles died down, and when they did he spoke up again. “Those who are comin’ you need ta’ be prepared for anythin’. The Alliance got no sense of the code. They might be there, they might be nasty, and they might be violent. Can’t let them see you quiver or shake. We’ll stand firm, and we’ll stand with ShadowClan, RiverClan, and WindClan against this thread. Even if those rat-faced tur-“ he cut his insult intended for ShadowClan short, realizing it was poorly time. “Er, I mean even though Boarstar still holds our territory. We must be united.”
[break][break]Satisfied that his speech covered the basics Applestar gave a gruff snort before turning and, when he was sure everyone was following, heading into the territory. It a brisk, chill run through the moors. Through the grass they ran, like fish in a river, and down the slope until the four great oaks stood towering before them.
[break][break]Once there the ginger leader stood silent as a boulder on the rim of the clearing, his cats gathered behind. He waited to detect who was in the clearing already, and what company might be lurking in the shadows. ShadowClan’s scent was present, but not current. The Alliance he didn’t detect yet, but that meant little. Well, it was now or nothing. With a great, big breath Applestar raised his tail into the air and signaled for his cats to descend into the clearing.
[break][break](Yeah so if you want to respond to this thread with reactions/journey stuff/applebuggin’ that’s cool. Or you can skip that stuff and just post your cat arriving in the gathering in your own open threads. It’s all good.)
