Rules and regulation
▼
By joining Rise Up, you automatically agree to know and follow these rules. They're a requirement for all members, staff, and high-ranks to follow, and whenever in doubt, please just consult the rulebook or ask a staff member.
We reserve the right to change, add, or remove rules at any time- though there will almost always be a warning and an announcement prior to doing so.
1. Conduct
A. Treat others kindly and respectfully. Don't pick fights, insult members, or act negatively towards another member. This also includes inappropriate, lewd, or generally just unwelcome behavior. If you're in a bad mood, you may want to simply avoid chatting or vent to a friend until you feel better. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind.
B. Do not mini-mod, boss, or in any way order around other members. Do not answer questions directed specifically at the staff and do not spread false information or rumors
2. Posting
A. Rise Up has a 150 word minimum per post. Of course, don't be afraid to post anything longer. We know everyone struggles with writers block, or sometimes just don't have much to work with, so if a post has content we're willing to overlook a few under the post-count, but if every single post is considerably shorter, we'll eventually have to step in.
B. There's nothing worse then getting involved in a thread and getting skipped over. Unless the thread specifies it has no post order, or an rper gives permission, then please wait your turn and keep others in mind. If a user doesn't reply within two weeks and has no current absence, go ahead and skip.
C. Please make sure your posts have enough grammar, punctuation, and spelling to be legible. Please also ensure that your template, if you use one, and your colors, are all easy on the eyes. Anything too bright or killer will have to change.
3. Accounts
All members are required to have one OOC account, and one account per character. Please have your account information filled out if possible. You can quickly swap between proboard accounts by clicking the two-person icon at the bottom of your screen.
4. Shoutbox
Do not spam (post more then four times in a row), advertise, or link to inappropriate content. Do not link to anything pornographic in nature, and please include warnings if you link to anything with strong language, spoilers, gore, or inappropriate themes. Do not spoil any movies, shows, books, stories, etc, in the shoutbox
5. Advertising
Only staff or appointed representatives may advertise for Rise Up. Please do not post our ad or spread our name to other roleplays via rule-breaking or inappropriate methods.
6. Theft
All forms of theft, if they're proven, will result in immediate and extreme action by staff. We do not tolerate theft.
7. Adoptions
Rise Up strongly stands by the adopter and mother/father's right over their adoptable family and children. Should the roleplayer you adopt a character out to fall inactive and lose their characters, you have full right to take the character back. It's up to you to adopt out your kittens to whoever YOU see fit.
8. Absences
Absences are only valid for as long as they're filled out for. If you post an absence for a month and you're gone for three, it's no longer valid past that one month point. Additionally, absences that extend longer then three months for plot or high-rank characters may result in a loss of rank.
You're allowed a default number of '4' characters, but more character slots can be bought using Whiskers and Claws in the shop! Keep in mind that staff expect all characters to be active before you buy another slot!
2. Activity
A. All characters are expected to stay active. This means at the least one post from each character per week, but we'd prefer way more posts then that!
B. Failing to pass an activity check (failing to post or simply not meeting the requirements) will result in all failing characters being removed. You will have two months (two more activity checks) to reclaim these characters, before they're lost forever. Additionally, high ranks and adopted ranks permanently lose their rank. They can apply for it again, but there's no guarantee they'll be accepted. Only the user who originally created the characters can 'reclaim' them, so there's no risk of anyone else claiming your character.
3. Fighting
A. Do not autohit. The roleplayer decides what does and does not hit their character. Always use 'attempt' or 'try' or 'aim'.
B. Do not powerplay. Your character isn't great at everything. Use stats as a reference to how good your character would be, how hard your opponent would hit, and who's more likely to escape. Keep in mind that skill in battle and experience can also apply, but don't discard the stats entirely.
4. Breeds
A. Unless you're an alliance cat or a kittypet, you cannot have a purebred or half-breed character unless you've purchased the proper item in the shop.
B. Even with the shop item, Munchkins, Sphinxes, Persions, Rexes, and any other cat with questionable and performance-altering mutations will not be allowed as Clan Cats or Alliance cats. They are permitted as Kittypets, however.
5. Godmodding
Do not control another person's character. Do not control any aspect of their thoughts, actions, words, feelings, or past emotion. Do not alter another character's past history or appearance through roleplay.
6. Balance
Your character cannot be cardboard. Kind, but brave when needed. Fierce, but loving and gentle. Mean, but only when you get on their bad side. This is a rainbow ruse, these traits can apply to ANYONE, and they're cardboard- not fun to play with, stiff and the same as every other cardboard character.
7. Shop Items
You may not, under any circumstance, have a shop item without purchasing it. Anything found in the shop, in-stock or not, is off limits (with the exception of those that say they're free to characters who qualify)
8. Litters
A. She-cats can only have kittens once they've completed three threads with the father, unless a shop item has been purchased.
B. Unless you use the shop item, you cannot play your own mate.
C. As you'll find in the litter registration rules, you're free to completely customize your litter. You can buy perks for the kittens or hope your character's perks pass down, or hope they develop random defects. That said, kittens must be genetically possible and you must keep in mind the mother's age, number of past litters, and diet and physical/mental health when deciding on the number of healthy kits.
9. Gatherings/Meetings
Gatherings will happen once every two months, the cats brought along decided by the leaders/deputys/medicine cat, depending on which is bringing their clan. Meetings are held by each clan's own high ranks.
10. Deaths/Injury
A. Characters suffer stat penalties due to age, injury, sickness and environment. Once three stat categories reach 0, or if Resilience reaches 0, you're expected to make a thread where your character can pass away. You're allowed, however, to kill them off early if you so choose.
B. Additionally, you gain penalties from injuries, and these penalties may or may not get more severe depending on how long you wait for treatment. It's your choice if you gamble your character's health or not- but we suggest seeing a medicine cat in a timely manner. If the clan's medicine cat is currently on absence, or for any reason not currently available due to OOC reasons, we're willing to make exceptions.
11. Patrols, mentors, and Apps
Patrols and mentor/apprentice pairings are the responsibility of the leader.
12. Aging and time
Every RL month is two IC months, and every two RL months there will be a season change.
13. Naming
A. Names must follow or be found in the Naming Guide! Keep in mind that you're free to try to sell your own prefixes and suffixes in your template; usually if names make sense and fit the traditional style, we'll allow them! Keep in mind that names are realistic on our judgement, not yours- we could debate back and forth all day.
B. There are no double names in the roleplay as a whole, or double prefixes in the same clan. Check the name claim to see what's available and what's not!
14. Appropriate post contents
Don't RP anything pornographic or over the top with gore. Mark anything that could be triggering. Proboards has a PG-13 requirement so if you really need to do something mature, take it to chatzy, because doing it through PMs could get all of us in trouble.
15. Realism
And lastly, Rise Up is a realistic roleplay. All colors, markings, and patterns must be found on real cats. Injuries have real results, sicknesses and mental illnesses have real symptoms. Be respectful, do your research, or ask the staff for help!
We reserve the right to change, add, or remove rules at any time- though there will almost always be a warning and an announcement prior to doing so.
