What's your favorite, and least favorite roles?
Any signature strats?
(AN- I'm one referral away from a super cool skin, if u wanna hmu and say longjump sent you)
For those who don't know, Town of Salem is a game of teamwork, lies, betrayal, investigation, and wits. The difficulty of the game depends on the roles in that round and the intelligence of the users- making each round a unique and rewarding (or salty) experience. The game is split into two 'teams' and neutrals. Each person gets a will to write info in, and when they die, the whole game gets to see it.
This song is a really good summary of how a round can go>> www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw8A9FVAzPw...z1mwZY&index=15
The Town. The town is the 'default'. You automatically assume everyone is town (and suspect they are otherwise). Town have support roles that can talk to dead chat, reveal as confirmed town, bring one townie back to life, etc. Protection roles that keep people from dieing (Doctor, BodyGuard), killing roles that can kill one person each night, and investigation roles that can check for clues to other people's roles or watch where people visit, or even listen in on the badguy's private chat. The town can also vote one person to be killed per day- but be careful, evil roles might try to manipulate and trick you into hanging the wrong person.
The Mafia are the 'main' badguys. They automatically know who is all mafia and what the roles of their mafia friends are. They have a private chat at night that lets them talk and plan and see who's all doing what, but be careful- spies might be listening. They have a Godfather, who decides who dies and can't be killed at night, a mafioso- who kills for the GF, and usually a support that helps the mafia. Forgers can fake a townie's last will, framers make an innocent look like mafia to the investigators and sheriffs, blackmailers keep one person from talking each day- and so on. Their goal is to kill everyone who doesn't submit to the mafia- so all town and some of the neutral people.
Neutrals are those who align with neither the mafia or town. Some neutrals have goals they need to complete to win, others need to eliminate all non-neutrals. For example: The jester's goal is to be hung. If they die at night or don't die at all, they lose. As a result jesters are chaotic and often make everyone confused. But you see, town and mafia don't want to hang jesters- because anyone who votes guilty can be killed by the jester after they're hung. Executioners have one town target that they want to be hung. If their target dies at night, the exe becomes jester- but if they're hung during the day, the EXE wins. Survivor just wants to live to see the end of the game- but the arsonist, serial killer, werewolf, and vampire, need to kill all the mafia, town, and Neutral killing roles (arsonists, serial killers, werewolves, etc). Because some of these roles can't be killed at night, a clever Neutral Killer needs to be able to find and get his opposition hung without being suspected.
as for favorites
My favorite roles are easily town invest: Investigator, Lookout, Sheriff, Spy, etc. I rock these roles.
Least favorite would have to be transporter. In my opinion a bad transporter kills the town. Play-wise, survivor is boring.
My favorite game ever was
The gamemode is classic. That means there's a-
Jailer (Jails one person each night, keeping them from doing whatever their role does. Asks questions and can kill who they jailed if they want)
Investigator (Gets a hint of each person's role)
Sheriff (Can see if the person they check is 'bad'. Can't find GF)
Lookout (Watches one person to see who visits)
Doctor (keeps one person from dieing)
Medium (talks to the dead at night)
Escort (Blocks a role each night)
Town killing (either a vigilante, who can shoot one person at night and dies if they kill town, or veteran- kills anyone who visits on the night they alert)
Godfather (picks who the mafia kill, can't be killed at night)
Mafioso (kills who the GF tells them to)
Framer (makes one innocent person look guilty)
Jester (wants to be hung)
Exe (wants to hang someone else)
Serial killer (wants to kill all mafia and town)
Random town (a random town role)
Anyway, I’m the mafioso. I kill who the GF tells me to. I write that I’m sheriff in my will and start fake-logging. Jailer jails me N3 and I tell him that I checked (my framer) and they showed as mafia, but i wasn’t sure if they were framed so I’m “going to check them again”. Next night Jailer executes (my framer) and they’re shown as mafia.
Invest tries to get me hung but Jailer vouches that I’m confirmed town. I whisper invest and give them my ‘findings’. That night the doctor saves me from the Serial killer. Mafia kills the jailer/lookout the next nights.
A few nights in and the sheriff dies, I claim random town and nobody else steps up. That night invest finds GodFather and that morning I pretend to be town and help hang him. Next night I attack the SK and they don't die at night, because they're sk and the SK attacks me and I’m healed again. I announce that I found the SK and they get hung. I’m even more proven town, 100% trust.
It’s late game, it’s me, the medium the doctor, and RT left. I announce that the medium is the only one I haven’t checked yet, so they must be mafia. We hang them and doc is suspicious of me in a whisper, so I kill him that night. I’m also worried RT might be vet so I avoid attacking them.
That morning I’m gloating shamelessly about my win in skype AND in game. You see, even though it's 1 town and me left, town cannot hang a bad guy during the day unless they have at least two votes. There is only ONE town who can have more then one vote, and that's the mayor. Mayor can reveal themself as town, they're the only role in the game that can do it- and considering mayor is one of 20 some town roles that can be random town, and hasn't revealed, I'm confident I've won, until...
Spilt Melk reveals as mayor, shoots down my hopes and dreams of back-stabbing the town that trusted me, and hangs me.
of all the roles why. whyyy. rip.
the rest of the night is spent with everyone in the chat distrusting me regardless of what role i pick because im a traitor.
