ONTHE OUTSIDE
APPLE► BRIEF,
his ginger pelt and darker cinnamon tabby markings
A massive ginger tom with gold eyes
► APPEARANCE,
Eyes
Pale yellow orbs rest beneath his defined brow.
Coat
His pelt is long-haired and wild. Age is withering its spender and resulting is courser hairs. The coloring is a deep ginger with chestnut classic tabby markings and a lighter underbelly. His whiskers are long and curly with age and experience giving him a distinguished look.
Body Build
Apple is a tad larger then the average warrior of the forest with long and powerful hind-legs, broad shoulders, and a particularly thick figure. His head is distinctly wedge-shaped with a large, stocky muzzle and wide, deep set, eyes.
Scars
A long, thin, and pale pink scar trails along his left flank and down his thigh. It acts up around storms, rain, etc. Another scar, thin and ragged, dashes across the top of his muzzle (from a fight with a full-grown rabbit as an apprentice). His right ear has two nicks from a fight with a RiverClan warrior, and another scar, hardly noticeable, travels along his chest in a loose "v" (the cause was a fight with The Alliance, which also cost him a life). More nicks mottle his form, but most are thin and fairly unnoticeable until closer inspection. Each comes with a story of woe, grief, heroics, and mistakes. Oh, and he's also got a touch of arthritis. He's just that lucky.

► PERSONALITY,
Overall
The passing of many moons has withered this old tom, and attempted to teach him the wisdom of patience. There is an unmistakable fire within Apple, though, that drives him onward for better or for worse. Somewhat headstrong, this feline would rather battle with words and claw than have his pride trampled on. While his determination has led WindClan to numerous victories, it has also spelled disaster on more then one occasion. Do not mistake him for a fool, his cunning makes up for what he lacks in common sense and his warmth towards his clan-mates is never ending. He may be rough, and come off as arrogant, but there is much more to this tom then that.
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Well done, everyone! This calls for a feast!"
In fact almost every occasion is perfect for a celebration according to Applestar. A new litter of kittens is born? Party! A warrior is named? Party! An apprentice passes an assessment? Party! Basically he just likes to get down and will use any excuse to encourage his clanmates to relax and do the same.
"It's okay kid, keep at it. You've got the spirit of a badger!"
Applestar doesn't let anyone give up. He's old enough to everyone's father and he sure acts like it. Family abuse, bullying, or anything like that would NOT be tolerated in WindClan by this father figure. WindClan is just one big happy family.
"You're down right lousy, but you'll find your skill. Just wait."
While a little blunt and harsh at times Applestar will always be honest. He likes to take the head-on approach instead. smacking through walls head-first is better than deviously trying to get around them.
"Good morning WindClan! Up, up, up! Time to wake!"
Everything he does is bold, outgoing, and over the top. He throws himself into everyday life with a vengeance. For an old man he's surprisingly spry, making up for his failing body with his booming voice. Perhaps he's just trying to hide his age and growing fragility.
"They said what? That's it, I'll cut their tongues out!"
He overreacts constantly due to his boundless energy and lack of forethought. His moods are extremely predictable and because of it it's easy to manipulate him. But just as quickly as he's riled up a smart tongue can smooth his fur flat, or a clever apprentice can get out of trouble.
"Was it too much? Nah. That's impossible."
He fully believes "it's now or never." Tomorrow is too far away to wait. If there's a decision to be made he'll make it fast and stick to it. While his age has given him some form of patience, it has also made him ever more hasty to get his ducks in line.
"I'm old, kid, I know how this works. There's no choice."
Because of his age, his rank, and his pride Applestar is often very overbearing and assuming. He assumes he has experienced everything and therefore knows best. It's the typical "I was young once too" scenario.
"Huh, didn't think about it that way."
While he's not an idiot, and he has enough experience to lend him wisdom, Applestar doesn't think enough. He acts first, acts again, and then never apologizes. You can lecture this cat about what he could have done until the cows come home, but he won't learn. And with his age his mind has slowly, ever so slowly, begin to dip. Which just makes him all the more senile.

AHISTORY
~ Within the withered hollow shaft of the antique nursery den Applekit, Honeykit, Cherrykit, and Pinekit where fetched unceremoniously into the world. Their birth, though adored as all new additions to the clan are, was rather trivial and mundane. Daisystorm was an immensely proud warrior queen, and incessantly left the bundles of fluff to return to her duties out in the dark depths of the forest. Russetcoat, on the other paw, seized every opportunity to be a doting and loving father -playing with his kits and spoiling them upon every occasion. It is easy to assume then that they were indeed a happy and average family.
~ As the looming form of a broad-shouldered feline stood silhouetted with the sun bathed tallrock, Applepaw’s growing legs trembled. The young tom’s stout head, though, was lifted proudly into the cooling air with his pale green eyes glowing in the dim light. His mentor, Tansyheart, was known for being gentle and thoughtful –the exact opposite of Apple. While she strove to teach the young tom patience he fought doubly hard to master everything in the quickest possible way. He would spur on the other apprentices with jibs and speeches, often causing a rowdy scene to unfold. In this way he met Yellowkit and the two became friends, the best of.
~ Darkness lapped at Applestripe’s pale claws as they dug reflexively into the dank soil of ShadowClan’s new stretch of stolen territory. He proved to be neither the strongest nor the brightest of warriors, but his determination and devotion had led him into the title of deputy. His first apprentice, Squirrelnose, lay a fox-length ahead as she inspected the fresh marked border. A more pressing issue hung in the thickening air, though –ShadowClan was about to ambush the unlucky patrol. The earth was drenched with thick, russet blood by the time the moon peeked from behind a corner of the last remaining storm cloud. Apple’s head was hunched in defeat, the body of his sister lay crumpled and lifeless upon the grass. While the WindClan warriors had faught bravely, they had been out maneuvered and outgunned. ShadowClan would continue to claim WindClan soil. Worse yet, the loss had come with a heavy price. But not all was lost and as light washed the land a love kindled between him and a beautiful ivory she-cat, Clovertail.
~ Moons passed and Applestripe became Applestar with the passing of the elder she-cat who had led WindClan to numerous triumphs -including claiming a stretch of RiverClan territory. This proud tom had come to lose his youngest son within his first litter, and the death was not taken well. Using the fresh wound of the clan he rallied his warriors and commanded them once more into battle with ShadowClan. It was victorious in the end, but the passionate leader lost a life and received a wound to his hind-leg that was to trouble him greatly in his elder years. The victory was short-lived, and ShadowClan quickly reclaimed the land. It was a crushing defeat.
~ But life went on, and he was blessed with another healthy litter of kits. His second apprentice, a young tom by the name of Smallpaw, did not live up to his expectations by far. Applestar had been a passionate kitten and so he expected the same. Smallpaw, however, was insecure, careful, and cautious. Although Applestar tried his best their partnership was strained.
~ In one fell swoop The Alliance took out first ThunderClan, and then RiverClan. Fleeing cats were welcomed into WindClan's depths, although RiverClan refuges were kept at a skeptical distance. Through the victims he learned of the rogues' actions, and he swore revenge. Immediately the large tabby called for a fight to end it. However, his senior warriors and loving mate managed to convinced the tom not to repeat RiverClan's mistake.
~ Now an old feline, Applestar’s passion has begun to wane and patience may prove to take its place –though this is left to be seen. He has lost many a life to battles, mistakes, and victories. Each is precious and distinct, and a story unto themselves. Now he watches with slowly fading eyes as those he loves passes away to be replaced with new faces and dreams.
