This ebon-hued specimen was named for their glossy black fur which has the peculiar charm of throwing colors akin to their clever winged namesake.
A handsome obsidian tom with blistering copper eyes
► APPEARANCE,
Decorative burnt copper orbs, two in total, glow with the light of a thousand dying suns. Flecks of golden highlights on the rounded optics, charming and intriguing, a tortured inner soul. In the all-knowing light of day the pure pelt of coals you will notice is unmarred by stripe or hue on this strange unadorned feline. Only darkness intrudes like the depths of an untamed crypt forgotten and crumbling. The ridges of this animal's whiskers, a bystander may regard with fixated adoration, originated in ebon but fade to an enriched, milky alabaster like stone on a chill winter's day.
Now that our veneration for his appearance is in full view. All will see the submissive gait which so encumbers a spirit like all-consuming forces of a raging fire snuffing the glint of dawn's awakening. What would be a regal continence if undisturbed bares sign of a noble visage, Shoulders carved from the four great oaks are slight and lean, afford maneuverability. In light of the darkness burning eternally in his heart and the malnutrition which surely plagued him Ravenpaw would demonstrate an impenetrable figure. If only fate's cruel hand would be so kind.

A gentleman at his ancient heart, noble in the highest gilded courts. He wears a crown of blooming flowers atop his gentle brow. By no means is this an unreasonable feline, although the unusual specimen is no stranger to unannounced anger that rises within like the heat off a sweltering crimson hot spring, dormant for centuries. Ebony and ivory, a taint of black on an otherwise white painting. He was born one among four, second to last. The last would perish of cold, leaving he to hold the title of runt. Despair falls like wet snow upon the broken family. In her grief Pansyblaze neglects her litter, and Ravenkit suffers most for this.

Their father's lover, a homewrecker feigning as an innocent, disturbs the family's sanctum in unwanted visits. The others are deceived but Ravenkit, too young to understand why, fears the intrusion. His scorned mother pulls her darling children tight against her bodice, wishing to save their pure hearts from their father's cruelty. In her love the air is restricted from the bellows of his lungs and darkness invades all sight. Death's door cracked. It was in the medicine cat's able paws that he could, again, breath.

Illness overtakes the feint-hearted Pansyblaze, growing more consuming as their father's lover continues to visit. Tigerface retracts his owed sympathy from his ex-mate to leave her to agonize alone. Passion overwhelms the first loves and as they argue over their entwined fates the homewrecker thrusts himself withing the debate he has no footing. Pansyblazes claws him sharply across the face in self-defense.

Pansyblaze grows sicker and the medicine cat puts all else aside to discover the unusual cause which is left unknown. The kits are weaned.

Desperate for a cure to her mysterious ailment the desperate Pansyblaze and the kits plan to search for some medical anomaly herb beyond the camp. Tigerface stops them, and the jealous father informs judicially Bearstar. Pansyblaze is confined to the medicine den while her rival and replacement takes her place in the nursery.

Faithful to the dying end of light's last form Ravenkit swears to visit his mother at the cost of all else. The others resist out of childhood adolescence but his compassionate and wise soul convinces them otherwise.

Ravenpaw judicially visits his ailing mother whenever available, makes time for her above all other selfish concerns. Training looses imparitiveness in the face of her drawn and suffering hardship. He knows he must devote himself to the woman who his life is owed to. No matter how the others resist.

His compassion and wisdom beyond years leads him to his mother's dying side, but in training he falls. An intervention rejuvenates all motivation towards succeeding in warriorhood, but his heart remains forever torn between family and success.
